Hero Clover 7028 Pen Review
Okay so the Lucky Hero Clover 7028 is adorable, but how does it write?

Hero Clover 7028 Fountain Pen Design
The Hero Clover 7028 is a cute pen with little blue and silver/gray clovers printed on the black body around the cap. The cap band is a silver tone and engraved with 7028, Chinese lettering and the word Hero.

This pen is cute and utilitarian. The printed clovers look like a pen a teenage girl would appreciate. It’s on the thin side, black with gray, blue and silver clovers printed on the body. It comes with a converter but it did not work for me so I syringe filled it because it would not draw ink, no matter how hard I tried.
Having said that, the converter does hold a good bit of ink. The section tapers nicely for a thin grip point on the pen.
How Does The Nib Perform On Different Papers?
This fountain pen is scratchy and doesn’t have reliable inkflow. It pours more on the downstroke and chokes on the upstroke. It is not conducive to writing anything really because it’s frustrating. I cleaned out the nib and feed several times to ensure it wasn’t dust from manufacturing but it’s still sloppy and scratchy.
Not impressed.
It’s a dry writer and scratches across the page no matter what paper you’re using. It’s disappointing because it’s so cute I wanted to love this pen. It also skips and hard starts. Overall just a frustrating experience that had me reaching, for, GASP, my nearest ballpoint.
The Cap – Screw/Pull/Post and What That Means
Having said that, the balance of the pen is good, it feels great posted and it’s lightweight. It doesn’t make your hand tired, but you WILL be frustrated by all of the skipping and hard starting, at least I was. It’s a pull off cap which I love and it posts solidly with no chatter or movement.
Who is the Fountain Pen Good For? Is It a Good Overall Value?
I would not recommend this pen to anyone due to it’s inconsistent inkflow and terrible scratchiness despite several rounds of cleaning. I hope this was just a one-off, bad quality control and not representative of the model overall, but I write what I experience. This is not a great writer and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone for all of the inconsistencies above.
Ironically, the three 4+ star reviews on Amazon for this pen at the time of this writing all say it’s a buttery smooth writer so it might just be this particular pen was scratchy. Not sure…
